What is Screen Recorder?

Screen Recorder captures a browser tab, an app window or your entire screen with the browser’s own screen-sharing dialog, optionally with system audio and microphone narration. The video is encoded by your browser with MediaRecorder and stays in this tab until you download it. There is no install, account, watermark or upload.

How to use
  1. 1.Choose a resolution and frame rate target, and turn System audio or Microphone on or off.
  2. 2.Select Start Recording and pick a tab, window or screen in the browser dialog.
  3. 3.If Microphone is on, allow microphone access.
  4. 4.Use Pause, Resume and Stop Recording, or stop from the browser’s Stop sharing control.
  5. 5.Review the preview and actual details, then select Download.
Targets, audio and formats

Resolution and frame rate are requested targets. The browser reports the actual values, which depend on the shared source, display scaling and system load. System audio depends on the browser, operating system and source: Chromium browsers usually share tab audio, while some systems never share audio. When both system audio and the microphone are available they are mixed into one track. The file format is the first one this browser can record, usually WebM; MP4 is used only when the browser supports recording it.

Privacy and memory limits

Capture, encoding and preview happen in your browser and nothing is sent to a server. All screen and microphone tracks, the audio mixer and timers are stopped when you stop, leave the page or close it. Recordings are held in memory in 1-second chunks: a warning appears at 200 MB and recording stops automatically at 250 MB. Mobile browsers generally do not offer screen capture, so the tool explains when it is unavailable.
