About this tool
Webcam Recorder asks for camera and optional microphone access only after you select Start Camera. Video and snapshots remain in this tab as temporary in-memory files; they are never uploaded. The browser chooses which MediaRecorder containers and codecs are available, so WebM is common and MP4 appears only when the browser truly supports it. Stopping the camera, closing or navigating away from the page, and component cleanup stop media tracks; deleting a result or leaving the page also revokes its temporary object URL.
How to use
Select Start Camera and approve access. Choose a camera, microphone, and optional resolution after permission is granted. Take a PNG snapshot at the camera's native video dimensions, or start a recording and use Pause, Resume, and Stop. Review the newest result in the gallery, download it, delete it, or select Start Again while the camera is still active.
Formats, devices, and memory
Camera support requires a secure page and compatible browser. Device names may remain generic until permission is granted, requested resolutions can fall back to the device default, and recording formats vary by browser. Results exist only in memory and disappear when this page closes. The gallery holds up to 12 items, warns near 200 MiB or 10 items, and stops before exceeding 250 MiB.
