JSON Query Playground
Run real jq on JSON and JSONL in your browser and see the output as you type
Paste JSON or JSONL, open a file, or load an example.
Runs real jq 1.8.2 (WebAssembly) in a background worker.
What is the JSON Query Playground?
A jq playground that runs the real jq 1.8.2 engine compiled to WebAssembly. Paste JSON or JSONL, write a jq filter and see the output as you type. Queries behave exactly like jq on the command line, including error messages, so you can prototype filters for scripts, CI jobs and API responses.
Flags and recipes
Switch on raw output (-r), compact output (-c), slurp (-s), null input (-n) and sort keys (-S); the matching command line is shown under the query. Recipes load common patterns such as map, select, group_by, sort_by, unique_by, to_entries, paths and @csv together with an example input.
Limits and privacy
jq runs in a background worker, so a slow query never freezes the page. Runs stop after the time limit (3 s by default, 1 or 10 s under Advanced) and the worker restarts. Inputs up to 1 MB re-run automatically; larger inputs up to 20 MB run when you press Run. Your query and flags are remembered in this browser; the input is never stored or uploaded.
