What JSON to Markdown does
JSON to Markdown turns API responses, configs and exports into Markdown you can paste into docs, tickets, READMEs or an AI chat. Markdown Table builds a GitHub-style table from an array of records, Markdown Sections writes headings, labelled fields and bullet lists that follow the shape of your data, and AI Context writes a compact nested list that keeps every selected value without decorative prose. The conversion is rule-based: the same JSON and options always produce the same Markdown, and no AI model is involved.
How to use
- 1.Paste JSON, upload or drop one .json file, or load an example.
- 2.Choose Markdown Table, Markdown Sections or AI Context.
- 3.Pick the data to convert when the JSON contains several arrays, for example $.data.users.
- 4.For tables, set alignment, row numbers, flattening of nested objects and how null is written.
- 5.Copy the Markdown or download it as data.md. Inputs over 2 MB convert when you select Convert.
How values are written
Table columns are the union of keys across all rows, so a key missing from a row leaves an empty cell while null uses the placeholder you choose. Nested objects and arrays appear as compact JSON in cells or become their own sections and nested lists. Pipes, backslashes, line breaks, #, list markers, backticks and HTML-looking text are escaped so they appear literally and cannot break a table or create headings. AI Context quotes strings that would otherwise look like numbers, booleans or null, such as "007" or "true". Numbers beyond JavaScript precision keep their exact digits.
Limits and privacy
Generated structure words such as Item 1 and (value) are in English so the output is identical in every language. Sections list a level’s fields before its nested sections, and headings deeper than six levels show the full JSONPath. Character counts are shown for comparison only; they are not token counts. Conversion runs entirely in your browser, and your JSON is never uploaded.
