Hreflang Validator & Generator
Local processing with network featuresCheck hreflang clusters, return links and codes, then generate tags
Input
Checks this page and up to 19 alternates it lists.
Validate sends these URLs to CodingTool servers. The servers request each public page (up to 20) and its robots.txt without cookies, so the target site receives those requests. Nothing is stored.

What this tool checks
Hreflang tells search engines which URL serves which language or region. This tool validates every hreflang value (ISO 639-1 language, optional ISO 15924 script, ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 region or x-default), then checks the cluster as a graph: each page should list itself and every alternate, and each alternate should link back. It also reports conflicting targets, duplicates, relative URLs and pages whose status, redirect, canonical, noindex or robots.txt rule can stop search engines from using the annotations.
Modes
- 1.Validate URL fetches one public page and then up to 19 alternates it lists, reading HTML link tags and the HTTP Link header.
- 2.Validate set checks pasted tags, Link headers or a sitemap with xhtml:link entries in your browser, or fetches a pasted list of up to 20 URLs.
- 3.Generate builds HTML tags, an HTTP Link header and an XML sitemap from the same language rows, with live validation.
Reading the results
- •Errors break the cluster and usually stop search engines from using it: invalid codes, missing return links, missing self links and conflicting targets.
- •Warnings are potential issues, such as redirects, canonical mismatches, noindex or Blocked by robots.txt.
- •Notes are informational: a missing x-default or annotations from more than one method. Mixing methods is valid; it only adds maintenance.
- •Unverified means the target page was not part of the check, so its return link could not be confirmed.
Privacy and limits
Pasted input and Generate mode never leave your browser. URL modes send the URLs to CodingTool servers, which fetch public pages without cookies, block private and internal addresses, limit redirects and response size, and keep nothing after responding. The target site receives these requests. Results reflect Static HTML and HTTP headers only; tags added later by JavaScript in the Rendered DOM are not read.
