What the generator does
It turns a task description and an optional ticket key into a Git branch name such as fix/AUTH-231/oauth-callback-race-condition. Presets for Conventional, Git Flow, GitHub Flow, Jira and Linear set the branch type list and layout, and every option stays editable. You also get two or three alternatives and ready-to-copy git switch, git checkout and git push commands.
How the name is cleaned
Text is normalized with Unicode NFKD so accents are removed, letters like ß, æ and ø are transliterated, and letters are lowercased unless you keep the case. Spaces and punctuation become separators, characters Git forbids are removed, repeated separators are collapsed, and long descriptions are cut at a word boundary. Each change is listed with the reason, so nothing is modified silently.
Git rules checked
The final name is checked against git check-ref-format: no spaces, control characters, ~ ^ : ? * [ or backslash, no .., no @{, not the single character @, no leading or trailing slash or //, no part starting with a dot or ending with .lock, and no trailing dot. Branch rules add no leading - and not HEAD, and the name must be valid as refs/heads/<name>.
Limitations and privacy
The tool does not check whether a branch already exists, does not read your repository and does not know your team conventions beyond the presets. Issue URLs are only parsed for the key; nothing is fetched. The description and ticket stay in memory and are not saved; only the options are remembered in this browser.
