Precise countdowns for events and milestones
Event Countdown creates live, time-zone-aware countdowns for launches, deadlines, birthdays, renewals, and other milestones. It also tracks time since a past event and progress through a date range.
How to create an event countdown
- 1.Choose a preset or enter an event name.
- 2.Select countdown, count up, or date-range mode, then set the exact date, time, and IANA time zone.
- 3.Customize the display and save the event locally.
- 4.Share a stateless link or QR code, present it full-screen, or export it to a calendar.
Time zones and recurring events
Dates are stored as local wall-clock times together with their IANA time zones, so a 09:00 New York event remains at 09:00 New York time across daylight-saving changes. Daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly recurrences are calculated in the event time zone.
Private, local-first event storage
Saved events and drafts use IndexedDB in this browser and are not uploaded. Share links contain only the event fields needed to reconstruct the countdown; private notes are excluded. Export a JSON backup before clearing browser data or moving devices.
Frequently asked questions
Does the timer keep working after sleep? Yes. It recalculates from the current absolute time instead of decrementing a counter.
Can I use it as an alarm? Browser background execution is not reliable, so calendar export is the recommended reminder fallback.
Can another device open my event? Yes. Generate a share link; local event IDs alone are not portable.
