What does the Avatar Generator make?
It creates initials avatars for default profile pictures, placeholder users, team pages, and test data. Initials come from the first and last word of a name, a single word gives one letter, and an email address uses the part before the @. Emoji and combined characters are kept whole.
How to use it
- 1.Type a name, or set your own initials (up to three characters).
- 2.Choose the shape, size, font size, and font weight.
- 3.Keep the automatic background, pick a palette color, or enter any hex color; set the text color.
- 4.Download a PNG at 64, 128, 256, 512 px or a custom size, download the SVG, or copy the SVG markup.
Deterministic colors
The automatic background is picked from an eight-color palette using a stable hash of the name, so the same name always gets the same color on every device. Randomize changes the seed to pick a different palette color, and Reset returns to the name-based color. A contrast warning appears when the initials would be hard to read.
Output notes
SVG output is a small vector file that scales to any size. Text uses the system UI font, so an SVG can look slightly different on systems with other fonts; the PNG export fixes the look you see in the preview. Everything is generated in your browser.
